Skies

Even an angel can fall
When the weight of earthly affairs
Rips at her slowly tiring wings
And slowly as the bird dips through the sky
The life she never had will shrivel and end
And somewhere the feathers fall
And the road to new life begins

Even the fallen and broken-winged doves
Can long for a day they can fly
And strive to reach Heaven before they die
Though their despairing captor of soil and earth
Will plead and beg them and shackle them down
The angel seeks to shed the weight of the ground
And though the wolf mourns and the leopard cries
Even fallen Angels can take to the Skies.
